Markant oil is a very natural finish for most hardwoods. It gives a light, natural finish without any of the orange tones often seen in oil based finishes. (Who wants a ginger floor?)
Made from natural oils and waxes, it works differently from lacquer. The oil actually impregnates the timber to give a hardwearing resistant finish.
Easy to maintain and renovate, if given a little care and attention, the problem of resanding the floor should never arise.

Recently added to the Loba range, these are pigmented oils.
They don't stain or dye the wood, it is a first coat of hardwax oil that impregnates the timber providing protection and resistance. To complete the job, one coat of natural Markant oil provides the final coat. We have tried a lot of colours from various manufacturers and these are without doubt the strongest we have come across.

What is hardwax oil?

Markant hardwax oil is the modern version of oil and wax finishes. It gives protection, moisture resistance and ease of maintenance the old linseed oil and beeswax finishes could not.
Just doesn't smell the same though.

tip...

When applying hardwax oil, less is more. You can get special brushes but its easy to put too much on and it takes for ever to dry. Use either a mohair roller or if its a small room use one of those DIY paint pads and they are the best by far.
A mechanical buffer will also do the job
very quickly.

Please note, any tips and advice on this site are simply observations made by ourselves and our customers.
Always read manufacturers instructions and follow them.
That's why Lecol and Loba spend zillions on R+D, so you don't have to.
